Anchorage Photography Classes

Photography Intro

Gain an understanding of  the "Exposure Triangle," ISO, Aperture and Shutter Speed, and how they work in conjunction to form the foundation of photography. Learn how and when to use manual settings to make creative photographic decisions. This fun and comprehensive course is a solid introduction to photography, covering both technical and creative sides of the art. Offered in three, 1.5-hour sessions [6:00-7:30 pm] $125 per series.

All Photography Intro students are encouraged to do a Pre-Class Assignment and bring your notes to the first class.

Intermediate Photography

Take your photography to the next level with field trips to practice manual and semi-manual settings on a variety of subjects. You'll gain a better understanding of how the depth of field and shutter speed can impact composition, and reading quality of light. The class travels together in an Alaska Photo Treks van from a central meeting location to a different location each night. Three, 2-hour sessions [6:00-8:00pm] $150 per series.

Lightroom Basics

Getting a great shot is the first step to creating a memorable image. Learn how to bring out the best in your raw photo files through Lightroom editing and processing. This class will guide you through an entire workflow from start to finish and gives you the opportunity to practice techniques on your own images. Three, 1.5-hour sessions [6:00-7:30 pm] $125 per series.

  • A camera with manual settings and interchangeable lens
  • At least one zoom lens [24-70mm or thereabouts]
  • 8+ GB memory card
  • Fully charged battery [batteries]
  • Adobe Lightroom Creative Cloud subscription [for Lightroom Basics] with latest version installed on your laptop. Take advantage of the free trial if you haven't already done so.
