Anchorage Photography Classes

Overview
With our Anchorage photography classes, take this first to gain an understanding of the “Exposure Triangle” [shutter speed, aperture, and ISO] and how they work in concert to form the foundation of photography. Learn how and when to use manual settings to make creative photographic decisions. Learn more about how to utilize the “Elements of Design” in making composition choices. This fun and comprehensive course is a solid introduction to photography, covering both the technical and creative sides of the art through the exploration of composition. Offered in three 1.5-hour sessions [6:00-7:30 pm] at a classroom in the Anchorage Museum, 625 C St. $135 per series [3 classes].
All Anchorage Photography Class Intro students are encouraged to do a Pre-Class Assignment and bring their notes to the first session.
We now have two Intro Photo Class sessions available for booking. Classes will be held in person at the Anchorage Museum. The start time for each 1.5-hour session is 6:00 p.m.

Take your photography to the next level with an Anchorage photography class that provides practical practice on a series of field trips. This course will give you a better understanding of how the aperture settings and shutter speeds impact composition, how to read the quality of light, and push you to try new perspectives. Students travel together in the Alaska Photo Treks van from a central meeting point to a different location each session. Two 3-hour sessions: one in the morning and one in the evening. Meets at the southwest side of the Midtown Mall Parking lot [near the new REI] at a cost of $160 per series [2 classes]. This class is conducted outdoors, so dress appropriately for the weather.

Getting a great shot is the first step to creating a memorable image. Learn how to bring out the best in your raw photo files through Lightroom editing and processing software. This class will guide you through an entire workflow from importing and organizing, to editing, processing, and finally exporting. Three, 1.5-hour sessions [6:00-7:30 pm] $135 per series [3 classes]. Classes are held in a classroom at the Anchorage Museum at Rasmuson Center.
