Glacier Photo Tour by Helicopter
Take a breathtaking helicopter glacier photo tour above soaring mountain peaks and rivers of blue ice. Get a bird’s-eye view of amazing glacial features including crevasses, moulins, and waterfalls. Set down atop ancient ice to take in the natural beauty and capture memories of a lifetime.
Helicopter glacier photo tours are completely customizable. You may choose to have a photographer guide escort to provide in-air and on-the-ground coaching along the way, or go solo with your pilot guide. The flight route travels above scenic coastline and mountain ranges, with photographic opportunities abounding from take-off to landing.
All levels of photographers with all types of gear. Maximum 3 people per booking.

2 hours [90 minute flight with 30 minute glacier landing]
Van shuttle from your Anchorage area accommodations to heli port. Depart from Anchorage to Knik Glacier, by way of Chugach Mountains, Eklutna Lake, Whiteout Glacier, Colony Glacier and Lake George.
What to Bring
- Camera with manual settings
- Wide angle lens wide aperture [something in 24-70mm f/2.8 range will work well, but the wider the better]
- Zoom lens [140mm and up]
- At least 2 fully charged batteries
- Several memory cards
Photography equipment rental available at Stewart’s Photo Shop
- Comfortable walking or hiking shoes with good traction
- Short sleeves
- Warm fleece jacket
- Water/windproof outer shell
This is a moderate activity that involves walking short distances on uneven terrain and getting in and out of a small chopper. Weather conditions may range from rain, wind, and sun, and temperatures from 45°F [7°C] to 80°F [26°C].
